Protea pendant

This pendant is made from the center of a Protea flower. Known as a Protea pod, these interesting pieces are the natural geometry of the flower found within the seed bed at the base of the flower where it meets the branch.

Each piece is harvested, dried and goes through around 6 rounds of sanding and then oiling to get the pieces to something durable and smooth for jewellery, and then I set my braiding hands to it!

The Protea Pod is 35mm x 30mm x 11mm in size and the braided cord is adjustable.

They are a stunning natural relic and each is unique from the next even though they are from the same breed of tree.
